What is eZIP?
EZIP is a program designed to assist and facilitate the revitalization and beautification of Yorkton’s Downtown and West Broadway Corridor. The program seeks to improve the aesthetics of the area, expanding the tax base and attracting economic reinvestment. Financial incentives and tax exemptions are offered to businesses in five categories. The EZIP is available to all new and existing businesses within City of Yorkton that attain BID status.
Heritage – A tax exemption to heritage properties is offered so that owners of commercial heritage properties can seek designation and invest in the preservation of their heritage property.
Facade Site Improvements – Financial rebate is available to existing businesses to improve the physical appearance of buildings and allow compliance with the current zoning, signage and architectural design standards.
Business Creation and Expansion –Tax abatement is available to new and existing buildings in the YBID for new building construction which creates an increased assessed “improvement” over $150,000.00. The exemption will qualify to the increased value of an existing building due to renovations or new construction. The exemption will also be applied to the assessed value of any expansion or new construction to bare land.
