YBID is proud of or decade + long district beautification initiative and it is one of our projects that our members regularly lobby us for. It is also a project so long in standing – that it is often confused with a similar City of Yorkton initiative.
Every year, Yorkton Business Improvement District (YBID) deploys quite litterally hundreds of wooden barrel flower pots full of gorgeous, fresh flowers into our district! Each and every year – we shuffle their locations. The feedback we get from members is competitive (more member businesses than flowerpots) and everyone wants one near their door, for OBVIOUS reasons! They’re quite simply – beautiful!
The flowers, pots and soil is sourced from Young’s Plant World, who also plants the pots full to the brim each and every year. At the end of the season the pots and plants are moved back to Youngs for their seasonal cleaning, repair and refresh – ready for the next season!
The ready to go pots and flowers are moved bi-annually, watered and maintained on site throughout the growing season in partnership with Prairie Harvest Employment Program, that maintains a service depot within YBID boundaries.
Every year We’ve recieved many inquiries for Flower Pot placement from businesses outside of the YBID district, but unfortunately do not have enough pots, even to meet the seasonal demand of all of our member businesses! In past – Young’s Plant World has been able to supply similar pots and plant selection to non-YBID members. We suggest making direct contact with Young’s Plant World directly, to make such arrangements.
