The YBID City Centre Park Project was initiated by the precursor organization to the YBID – the Yorkton Downtown Business Association (DBA) as a response to manage a small patch of land within the district core that had become a blight, and unattractive.
The goal of the project was to create a central public space that was available to be used the whole of Yorkton. Through a long term financial commitment to the project by the DBA/YBID, the partnership of the City of Yorkton, Yorkton Arts Council, and many individual donors of time, and dollars – the Park was officially opened and dedicated on (DATE). The Project was turned over to the City after completion and since then the City has slowly developed it to the state it is in today.
The Park has wildly exceeded what the original DBA/YBID members envisioned for the park. It has truly become the HUB of the downtown core, and is often the Heart of the City of Yorkton. With innumerable fundraising and public awareness events, It is one of YBIDS favorite project achievements & legacies.
